As you’ve probably guessed, the only reason mobile phone companies can justify the cost of giving away mobile phones with free TV is because they know they’ll make money in the long run. High street retailers and mobile phone companies are always looking for new ways to get you to buy a contract with them rather than their competitors and by giving away free items such as a TV or laptop they think people are more likely to choose them.
